Saropac Children's Confidence & Resilience Day: Building Confident & Resilient Children, One Day at a Time

Updated: Aug 4

At Saropac Institute for Child Development Inc., we believe that every child deserves the opportunity to grow in an environment where they feel safe, valued, and understood. This belief guided our recent Children's Day Program, a day filled with interactive learning, movement, creativity, and meaningful conversations designed to strengthen children's confidence, emotional awareness, and resilience.
From the moment families arrived, the atmosphere was filled with excitement. Children were welcomed with music and warm smiles, creating a positive environment that encouraged connection and participation from the very beginning.

The day began with opening remarks and engaging icebreakers that helped children get to know one another while building comfort in a new social setting. Activities such as the Name Toss encouraged communication and helped every participant feel included.
Throughout the morning, children participated in a series of evidence-informed games intentionally designed to support healthy development.
The Puzzle Challenge encouraged problem-solving, patience, and teamwork. During the Confidence Walk, children practiced believing in themselves while cheering on their peers, reinforcing the importance of encouragement and self-confidence. Emotion Charades introduced children to identifying and expressing emotions in healthy ways, helping normalize conversations about feelings while strengthening emotional literacy.
After a brief water break, children received emotion stickers that reinforced the message that all feelings are valid and that recognizing emotions is an important part of emotional health.

One of the most meaningful moments of the day was the 5-5-5 Reset, a mindfulness and breathing activity that introduced children to simple self-regulation strategies. Learning how to pause, breathe, and regain emotional balance is a valuable life skill that children can use both at home and in school.
Children then participated in the “I Can Do Hard Things!” Obstacle Course, where they practiced perseverance, determination, and resilience. Rather than focusing on competition, the activity emphasized personal growth, effort, and celebrating group achievements.

Following lunch and music, the afternoon shifted toward creativity and collaboration. The Build the Tallest Tower challenge highlighted teamwork, communication, and creative problem-solving while reminding children that great accomplishments often happen when people work together.

One of the most inspiring activities invited each child to draw themselves as a superhero. Rather than imagining fictional heroes, children were encouraged to recognize the strengths they already possess. While children completed their artwork, parents participated in a discussion focused on child development, emotional well-being, and practical ways to continue nurturing confidence and resilience at home. Supporting parents is central to Saropac's mission because healthy child development extends beyond the classroom or program setting.

The Confidence Circle provided every child with the opportunity to share something they were proud of accomplishing. Whether it was learning a new skill, helping a friend, or simply finding the courage to participate, each child experienced the power of having their voice heard and celebrated.
The energy continued with a lively game of Freeze Dance, reminding everyone that movement, laughter, and play are essential components of healthy development.
The program concluded with a Recognition Ceremony, where every child received emotion stickers, a certificate of participation, and prizes celebrating their effort, courage, and engagement throughout the day. The day concluded with a joyful dance party, group photographs, and take-home gift bags, leaving children with lasting memories and a sense of accomplishment, belonging, and pride.

Why Programs Like This Matter
Research consistently demonstrates that children's social-emotional development plays a critical role in lifelong mental health, academic success, and positive relationships. This program was grounded in developmental psychology. Consistent with the work of developmental psychologist Douglas Davies in Child Development: A Practitioner's Guide (3rd ed.), every activity was intentionally designed to foster children's emotional, cognitive, and social development through positive relationships, meaningful play, and engaging, developmentally appropriate experiences
At Saropac, our programs are intentionally designed using principles from developmental psychology and trauma-informed practice. Rather than focusing solely on entertainment, every activity has a developmental purpose, helping children strengthen skills they will continue to use throughout their lives.

Looking Ahead
The success of this Children's Day Program reflects what is possible when families, communities, and child development professionals work together to create environments where children can thrive.
We extend our sincere gratitude to every child, parent, volunteer, and supporter who made this event possible. Your enthusiasm, participation, and encouragement created a day filled with learning, laughter, and lasting memories.
This program represents another step toward Saropac Institute for Child Development Inc.'s mission of promoting healthy child development through education, prevention, and community engagement. We look forward to expanding these opportunities and continuing to empower children and families through evidence-based, trauma-informed programs.
