Founder and Executive Director | SAROPAC Institute for Child Development Inc.
Dr. Patricia Osei Sarpong is the Founder and Executive Director of SAROPAC Institute for Child Development Inc., a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing child development, promoting trauma-informed care, and equipping parents, caregivers, educators, and institutions with the knowledge and tools to better support children and families.
She holds a Ph.D. in Developmental Psychology from Liberty University, where her research explored the relationship between childhood trauma and personality development in adulthood. Her academic work informs her commitment to understanding how early experiences shape development, behavior, emotional well-being, and outcomes across the lifespan.
Before founding SAROPAC, Dr. Osei Sarpong built extensive experience in New York State's health and human services systems, including serving as a Health Systems Specialist with the New York State Department of Health. Her work encompassed quality assurance, regulatory compliance, program oversight, and quality improvement across regulated healthcare settings. Her broader professional experience also includes health information management in pediatric and forensic psychiatric environments, strengthening her understanding of the systems that support vulnerable populations.
Beyond her research and public-sector work, Dr. Osei Sarpong is committed to translating developmental psychology into practical, accessible education for families and professionals. Through SAROPAC, she develops initiatives that promote children's confidence and resilience, increase awareness of childhood trauma, strengthen caregiver understanding, and encourage trauma-informed approaches in the environments where children live, learn, and grow.
Founded in 2026, SAROPAC reflects her vision of bridging the gap between developmental research and everyday practice. Through education, community engagement, professional training, and advocacy, she seeks to help families and institutions recognize the importance of early experiences and create environments in which children can thrive.
Dr. Osei Sarpong's work is guided by a central principle: understanding a child's behavior requires understanding the child's developmental experiences and environment. Through her leadership, she continues to advance SAROPAC's mission of supporting healthy child development and promoting more informed, responsive, and trauma-aware systems for children and families.
